Regular attendance is not only a legal requirement, it establishes good habits which will be valued later by employers and is vital if our pupils are to gain the full benefit of the education provided to maximize their learning and achieve their full potential. We ensure that all staff are carrying out appropriate measures that will help to safeguard children and promote their welfare, alongside understanding the importance and relevance of attendance.
Doing all we can to ensure good attendance is, therefore, a priority at Wincobank.
We work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that every pupil attends school every day and on time. We are always pleased to work together with parents/carers in resolving any difficulties but we are also committed to improving attendance levels at Wincobank.
Attendance is of high importance at Wincobank and our whole school approaches ensure it is part of daily and weekly discussions with our pupils and families.
Attendance is monitored on a daily basis, with patterns scrutinised on a weekly basis using the SOL Attendance approaches to promoting attendance. Pupils and families are made aware of any concerns raised about attendance in a timely manner in order to provide the relevant support.
At Wincobank, we have a number of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance. We believe that it is important to reward pupils who attend school each day as well as those whose attendance is improving.
